At Waterloo Wellness we provide a variety of massage therapy techniques to choose from.
These techniques being some of the most popular.
Deep tissue massage generally uses more pressure than a relaxation treatment. Deeper structures of the bodies tissues are targeted with this type of treatment. The treatment stays within the clients comfort level. Some amount of discomfort is common and is usually described as a 'good hurt'. This type of treatment is excellent for working out stubborn knots.
Just how it sounds! Lighter pressure than a deep tissue but deeply relaxing. Great after a stressful week!
Massage cupping is a modified version of a traditional technique used in Chinese medicine. Cups are applied to the skin to create a negative pressure on the tissue. The suction allows for the release and separation of the layers of soft tissue, aids in drainage of excess fluid and brings fresh blood and nutrients to the tissue which promotes healing.
Massage during pregnancy is a great way to reduce stress and relieve the normal discomforts associated with pregnancy. Come try our pregnancy pillow!
Hot Stone Massage
Hot Stone Massage uses basalt stones that originate from the river beds of the Andes Mountains of South America. These specific stones are used for their ability to retain heat. During the massage, smooth, flat, heated stones are placed on specific parts of the body, while your therapist uses massage techniques with the stones in hand, to transmit heat deep into the body. Hot Stone Therapy can help reduce stress and anxiety, promote relaxation and ease muscle pain and tension.
